Must. Write.

There is so much which goes on in the mind, for me it never makes much sense until that thought touched pen and then paper. The more I write, the more I remember.

This blogger editor seems outdated.

Anyway, the IFTTT concept needs to be used more at work, things are running a bit too manually for my liking. Have been brushing up on Visio lately, must use it more, easier to articulate concepts. That was random.

So whats been up lately? Its Feb mid already! Times flying as it does, at least it is constant in what it does.

We need Square here in India don't we, I sometimes wish we more more with pace to implement (though in all fairness we are). I can almost see the vegetable vendors swiping cards on their handsets with a Square-ish device.

Where is social media going? What happens after FB? Whats new coming up here? I noticed Klout did some changes and was bought out by someone, that was interesting. I've become a slave to tech news. Google sold Moto, to keep Samsung from running away. Yep.

Want to travel but don't know where, I need to eat something new but don't know what. Sleep is a waste of time, tell that to me when I'm not ready to wake even at 9.00AM on a work day!

Television is shite. Lost interest in/don't have the patience to watch sitcoms/any series. Someone asks me what I am doing, I lose my temper. Why? I am, as most of you might be as well, multi-tasking beyond belief at any given time. Like now for example, the tabs which I have open range from 'Why Alex Salmond is now a man without a plan (http://bettertogether.net/blog/entry/alex-salmond-is-now-a-man-without-a-plan)', to Khan Academy where I am doing Math (for no apparent reason), to random articles on entrepreneurship, Tech Crunch article no Lyft being funded further, Visio tricks and tips on Youtube, UML read-up, IFTTT channels added, Google drive opened up and project plans being worked on for the new client added recently, another Spreadsheet opened to calculate potential monthly EMI's for a flat being hunted for, and more, and more tabs of utter irrelevant nonsense.

Visited the auto expo recently, was nice, shot what I found interesting. Delhi is still cold, 5-6 C at night after the recent snow storm up north. Days are warmer.

Kejriwal resigned, whatever really.

I'm actually looking forward to the week ahead, lets see what comes of it.

Later with more randomness!

Understanding the job

Working with a product company, one of the bigger dilemmas facing the Product team is what to build based on the backlog of product items. Listening to a Harvard lecture podcast online recently, I came across a concept which helped me clear this dilemma. It simply asks a question- what is the job that your product is hired to perform? Ideas for the product you are building can come through various routes. We're going to lose this customer if we don't incorporate this now, this is something the CEO really wants to see in the product, it's been sitting in the backlog forever etc. But a very good way to go about prioritizing what goes into the product is to find the answer to the question- what is the job that your product is hired to perform? Imagine the product to be an employee who is hired for a particular profile. Now there are certain roles and responsibilities or KPI's which will define whether this employee is fit for the post. The same logic will apply to the p...

Stirling retreat

A well deserved outing out of Glasgow, after three and a half months here saw me and the mates going to Stirling, a city, well, a very small city an hours drive from here. Not that we could have chosen a better day for the trip, the mercury plummetted to a bone chilling -5C! (Pic:In an animated discussion with his royal highness while the jester looks on) The main attraction of Stirling, the Stirling Castle, the place of cornation of the legandary Queen of Scotts, and witness to the wars faught by the Scottish heros William Wallace and Robert the Bruce against their English counterparts. The scenic beauty of the palace took us a while to absorb, so did the entry fee to the castle (still not recovered from it)! Well, it brings me back to our roots, as Indians. Not that we didn't build castles and forts similar to this one if not better, my point focusses on our stingy attitude. Having paid the amount for the castle entry, we cribbed on the fact whether we should pay an addit...

DÉJÀ VU –VEDA TU!

Hey, I’ve been here before! How many times have you said that to yourself? I am sure it’s been more than a handful number of times. The very of concept of the Déjà vu is almost like challenging god at his own game. The very thought of giving god a run for his money sounds like fun right! Well not exactly. I’m no expert at this déjà vu business but I am sure that science has some suitable explanation for this phenomenon. Why only humans? I suppose animals must be having such feelings too! Just imagine, a lion prowling on a wilder beast, just as it is about to pounce on the helpless creature, it suddenly strikes the lion like lightning. Saying I’ve seen this man, err lion (?), it stops to recollect and in the split of the second, the wilder beast gets just enough time to scamper to safety, long enough to sit one day and share this story with its siblings! I’ve heard theories related to this occurrence stating the delay between the time both eyes take in transmitting ...
