Enough of light I feel has been thrown on the fact that India and China are going to be the big gun superpowers in the coming future. We get it, the economies of these two nations have been above the 5% mark even through the ongoing recession plaguing the world. Even the U.S. has not been spared, recording a negative growth rate along with most of the developed economies including most of the EU member states. But the time has come as per my opinion for the Indian politicians, the government and authorities to leave behind the worthless squabbles and actually start focusing on making India a better place for the masses. You may think I am talking my head off in the air, but I really feel that the time is right for the change which is desperately waiting on the doors of India Inc., waiting, knocking, awaiting a welcome, which has been denied to it by the bureaucracy and its components, the lax and egoist attitudes of officials, outdated policies concerning legal systems, corruption everywhere and the countless weeds in the garden of what was and could be a blooming orchard, called India.
I agree, change is a slow process, but the time is now. Like Nehru said, "when the world sleeps at this midnight hour, India awakens", it is time for that awakening. The act which has been running since as far as one can remember needs a shake, a buzz as they call it.
India is still perceived by people here in Europe as a nation of many people, fighting for survival, living everyday as if it was their last ( not in a optimistic way as it may sound). This perception has to be changed. Even as we post impressive figures on the front, we all know deep down what the condition is. The grim picture is clearly visible through the plight of farmers in central India, child labour practices which still ensue despite bans throughout the country, and of course the strong role played by local hooligans..err politicians, whose main line of actions are based on how they can be in power in the next election instead of actually spending some time on the welfare of the people which would inevitably bring them back in power the next time around! If only they would understand this simple ideology!
Having a clear idea of how things are governed here in UK, I can say confidently, if, only if people tried, made an effort, India will rise, break the shell, and actually be a prosperous state, and shed the skin which is suffocating it at present.
On the day marking the 61th death year of Gandhi, this is my message to the nation. That didn't sound right, well, I hope someone realises what is happening and the repercussions to it!
