Damn its December!

After passing in the first exams I had appeared for here in the UK, the time has already come for the second set of exams! Just ten days from now I will again be engaged in the matador and bull-fight, where I presumably will be the bull destined to get gored by the matador! Coffee flasks and coke cans ready, I am almost ready to delve into the seas of books to come up with some reasonable grades which would keep me alive in the race I am competing in. All the best to all, and me!

This crazy world..

Time flies by so fast that you really need to pinch youself to realise how much time has gone past since you haven't done anything productive! Its now two and a half months here in Glasgow and the thank you's have changed to cheers and yes'es have become aye! and the world is still moving on. The financial crisis is getting the best of everyone, but strangely not me! I will very proudly narrate to my grandkids about the time when the world was sinking in debt and I was making merry with my new found first job! Working part time at the local football clubs I was making enough to sustain my daily expenses while Jaguar was filing for loans, plane companies were bidding to buy out each other, banking companies were axeing like well built loggers and Woolsworth was being put out into the market for vultures to pick on! Well, with the winter coming up, and after experiencing my first snowfall here, I am really looking forward to working full-time in the vacations so as to save en

What a country!

Its been a month now I've been here in Glasgow, just realised that the Kelvinbridge subway is a bit closer to the uni as compared to Hillhead ! Jokes apart, I've almost understood the lifestyle and come to appreciate the amount of work which gets put in by the average Glaswegian in doing their daily work, be it the day to day chores , office work, shopping or pubbing! We Indians have an excuse for every little thing: I won't do that, very tired, just came from school and the jargon, but you have to admire the enthusiasm of the public here, they will work their arse off the whole day and yet still find time to shop for daily needs, watch the soaps and socialise! Its a system I am trying to emulate although I am fumbling all the way! One thing I've noticed here is that unlike the hardworking people, the pigeons here are super lazy! They don't give a damn who is coming their way! Its the people who have to actually manoeuvre around them. The other day, I almost ste

Glasgow Diaries...

The initial few days of my one year stay here in the UK have been hectic but pretty novel and adventurous. The city of Glasgow is one full of history, rich culture and being the second capital of Scotland after Edinburgh is an important financial and political hub, a shopping paradise and a famous tourist destination in the north of UK. The city buildings speak of its rich heritage with many of them being over many centuries old and the cobbled roads give a feel of living in an era long gone by. With the river Clyde flowing through this city of hills and the close proximity of Loch Lomond and the infamous stories of the Loch Ness monster based on it make Glasgow a must see city in the UK. The Scots are very proud people and unlike their English neighbours are of a very kind and helpful nature and would stop in their tracks however busy they are to help a lost soul! Being one of the larger cities in Europe, the people here sure know how to dress in style! Well, the men are not in quilts

Glasgow-Finally!

After a hectic last month, I can finally sit in peace and continue on the blog which I keep abandoning again and again! The latest is, well, inspite the heavy odds, I made it to Glasgow, to Scotland and well, to the UK! Life here is completely a straight walk in one file. Work goes on so systematically that it scares you sometimes. We Indians are used to having things done in our own time and liesure but not here, if something is given a time to be done, it is done on and at that time whether you like it or not! Take the case of the incident that happened a few days back, I got a notice from the accomodation people here saying that the cleaners would be there doing their job at so and so time and date. I was all ok! whatever type. The notice said to label the stuff in the kitchen belonging to you so that it is not disposed off, something I shouldn't have taken lightly!! The day after the cleaing, I found all my stuff-cup,glass,spoon,cereal,sugar.noodles and all was all taken out to

Have we done enough?

Sitting on our lounge chairs and comfy sofas nibbling on tit bits in front of the tele, all we can do is crib about the pathetic condition of our cricket team, politicians accepting bribes, bomb blasts, murders, kidnappings and well, the state of affairs over all. We should realise that somewhere, a large contingent of people are giving it all they have got in preparation for a major event which would decide which is the fittest and most supreme country in the world! For those ignorant personalities who still don't know what I am talking about, the Olympics begin in a few weeks! Its a fact to ponder about: which other event other than this can decide which is the best country in the world? With all the nations eligible to participate, this spectacle would be the center of attention for the sports fraternity all over the world for the coming months. After the collapse of the USSR, which led the medals tally in the mid to late 20th century, USA has now been leading the charts in the

OMG! Its been ages!!

All of a sudden, I realised that I had a blog, and that I had not edited it for as far as I can remember! With nothing concrete to do, well this seems to be the next best thing! So here goes, happy reading!!

DÉJÀ VU –VEDA TU!

Hey, I’ve been here before! How many times have you said that to yourself? I am sure it’s been more than a handful number of times. The very of concept of the Déjà vu is almost like challenging god at his own game. The very thought of giving god a run for his money sounds like fun right! Well not exactly. I’m no expert at this déjà vu business but I am sure that science has some suitable explanation for this phenomenon. Why only humans? I suppose animals must be having such feelings too! Just imagine, a lion prowling on a wilder beast, just as it is about to pounce on the helpless creature, it suddenly strikes the lion like lightning. Saying I’ve seen this man, err lion (?), it stops to recollect and in the split of the second, the wilder beast gets just enough time to scamper to safety, long enough to sit one day and share this story with its siblings! I’ve heard theories related to this occurrence stating the delay between the time both eyes take in transmitting

The Nagpur Diaries..

Gazillion subjects, VBD’s and countless number of annas samosas later, we have reached the final step of our college lives. This is the time of our lives that we would never forget. It is not very me in saying the above statement though! I was once a staunch believer that the school days would be the ones most cherished and missed by us whilst the college was just a four year course which would pass on. But coming to the fag end of my engineering degree, the very thought of leaving the college where we spent most of our days, studying (sometimes), bunking (most of the times!), completing journals or just plain ol’ chilling out in the canteen evokes a weird response from the brain of mine. A sense of emotion grips me with that bone chilling thought of moving on, graduating away from college. How much we have changed as individuals during the time we have spent in college is remarkable if given a thought to. How we as kids on the verge of adolescence joined the college with the will to d
