Death the Leveller

THE glories of our blood and state Are shadows, not substantial things; There is no armour against Fate; Death lays his icy hand on kings: Sceptre and Crown Must tumble down, And in the dust be equal made With the poor crooked scythe and spade. Some men with swords may reap the field, And plant fresh laurels where they kill: But their strong nerves at last must yield; They tame but one another still: Early or late They stoop to fate, And must give up their murmuring breath When they, pale captives, creep to death. The garlands wither on your brow, Then boast no more your mighty deeds! Upon Death's purple altar now See where the victor-victim bleeds. Your heads must come To the cold tomb: Only the actions of the just Smell sweet and blossom in their dust. By James Shirley

That Headless Wail

What is it that still remains? Ruins of reins but now inane. That once the stance that stood in shine, oh what remains of that troubled time? Stood there did she, that brutal score. That scorn, the rage made heavens mourn. That devilish smile was masked divine.. Not one, but many sought penance in thine.. "Where goes that maiden?", asked the king to me, "what be the source of her destiny?" "knew I if so what you ask me king, be blessed," said I with a golden grin.. You will last said she, is your present such. Shall I vanish in air this moment thus.. You shall grow said she, with leaps and bounds, For I have seen your future such...

Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Enterprise

The dictionary defines an Entrepreneur as one who undertakes innovations using business, technical and financial acumen to transform them into viable economic goods, or revitalizing and adding value to an organization. It has to be understood that each and every one has an entrepreneurial bent of mind embedded within us. Most of us do not realize that we unknowingly practice this in our day to day lives through finding an innovative solution at home thus saving time or money, or being 'Intrapreneurs' at work, constantly coming up with methods and processes which would be of benefit to the company and the client. I had the opportunity to attend TiECon-2012 (flagship event of the 'The Indus Entrepreneurs' group) held in the last week of September. The primary focus of the event was to bring together like minded individuals from a multitude of business, financial and technological backgrounds to network, share thoughts and ideologies, learn the art of pro-activeness, un

Consulting 101

We all often get asked what we do for a living. Many have pretty self explanatory answers: I'm a doctor, I see to it that the ailments the patient is suffering from are identified and a cure prescribed for them, or, I'm a Software Engineer, I develop applications for clients based in India or abroad through coding logic and creating a meaningful solution for them to optimize their processes etc. I often get asked the same question myself, more so because I've been out of touch with friends and family having been out of the county for sometime until recently. I tend to end up confusing people telling them what I do till the point that I get blank stares and half minded nods. I thought I'll give you guys a gist of what I do and what it means to do what I do! A Consultant is one who very much like a doctor, seeks to identify the ailment a business or a process within it faces through understanding the symptoms the patient (company) is showing, and by using standard consul

The Fall

Laugh we shall at naivety such, crushed is nothing but lust, in fuss.. The pain once had, subsides said she, but drown we shall in memories thus.. In crushing lashing pain said she! with rising ruining storms of dust! Will leave the poets in pall, in shame, no maker cure him can, the rut.. Then fate here plays the devilish game, thus seals the deal of blame in flames.. The walls so high, those nights how wry, no wonder made he, us fall, a must..

The Byrds - Mr Tambourine Man (Remastered)

What is it going to take?

The richest person in the world today is Carlos Slim. He has an amassed wealth of some $70bn till date. The population of the world today is 6.84bn. $1 from each of the worlds people=$6.84bn $10 from each person=$68.4bn. Which is nearly equivalent to Mr. Slim's wealth. A product which everyone avails of. A $100 product sold to .684bn people. A thousand billion is a trillion. Why is Apple the only trillion dollar company? What will it take for others to reach that pinnacle? An idea? A set of ideas? Ingenuity? A platform to source ideas and a team to execute? How hard is it? How hard can it be? Who will do it? What does one require? Brains or brawn? Target audience is the world. Some parts are yet living in the 1700's. Market to up that to present times. To define a future. To enforce a future. To dictate wants and dictate needs. To create an illusion? To display a necessity? They are minds after all. All ready to be tweaked. How creative are you? Where do y

Political Chatter

I am of the belief that one should expect the unexpected and in return never expect anything from anyone! Just like the day I got up on that fine morning and out of the blue ended up at the Le Meredian hearing APJ Kalam sir lecture the audience on Project Management, and later refusing to comment on his hairstyle. Different story. The former bit has been happening a lot lately which has led me to strengthen my faith on the same. Just yesterday I had gone for someones** engagement*, held at a close family friends' palatial mansion in Lutyens. After a pathetic performance by the Daredevils with the bat, I was more inclined to watch the Royals slaughter them royally into submission.***  (Pic: I just found the picture funny, maybe a tagline: Congress ka haath, BJP ke saath would work wonders!)  The 42 inch plasma was just adding salt to the wounds. My attention wavered when "The Wall" fell limping, (old age jammy cramps) to the distinguished gathering sitting next to me

MSME and India

Just general stuff, not trying to bore you to death! Lets say, its some basic stuff in the MSME sector at present. Good for some GK! Attended the Zee Business Conference on SME and Emerging Business Forum yesterday which had prominent panel members from SIDBI, NSIC, IndiaMart, Managing Head of the Tirupur cluster and Minister for MSME Virbhadra Singh among others. The main agenda for the panel discussion was to discuss the findings of the analysis Zee carried out by vising entrepreneurs and understanding the challenges faced by them across India. Availability of finance, acquisition of technology, retention of talent, challenges in marketing product/ services adequately were identified and discussed at length. Schemes introduced by the government of India in collaboration with NSIC and SIDBI were discussed which help startups raise funds for cap/op ex and help in marketing and business intelligence. Venture, debt and equity funding for startups was another topic of discussion

What it feels like

In anguish. In pain. Annoyed. People never seize to amaze me. Sinking to new lows on a daily basis. Am I the only one who makes sense in this crowd of blithering idiots? Or is it me alone who is senile unable to appreciate the random twats I come across? You may choose to close this window if you agree with the latter, (and they lived happily ever after) now. . I try to come across as a very sensible, understanding, appreciative, and a helpful being which inevitably translates to something which portrays me in a light which frankly, shines weirdly. I have a sinking feeling that I was born into an age where my generation was the "new thing on the block" and I remained unaware that I was supposed to join the pack and instead remained glued to the old traditional values, or the backward, grounded, senile person. I have no doubt that the hipsters of today are fast and learn quick and act like geezers, but give a listen to olden values people! Act mature, not retarded! Its like

At Bond Street we shall wait..

The hour is now so late the last tube will soon go by have left it hence to fate for you i'll wait, i'll wait.. the stench comes off my clothes burning in this cold for those that drink you said we'll share that place, that ware, that fair.. oh what became of thee went faint we in thy stare fell off the tip of mind aware of the moonlit air.. sangria was the night sangria were the notes sangria was the kiss and yet there was amiss.. that night was calm and strong forbid of any song for deep within my soul it'll never be bygone.. have left it hence to fate an hour it is too late for her time thus we throw bait at Bond Street we shall wait..

The road less tarred

Why the sudden fascination for blogging you ask? I have a resolution to keep, so there! I will try my best not to justify the title as I most often end up doing. The question which comes to mind is that why people tend to move along the path which is defined, why not go through a path or a patch of sand to reach where you have to? That was a wee bit philosophical. Lets say, a career path. People would want to carry on the path of employment with a well paying company, the path more tarred, as compared to take the sandy path, the road less tarred, or self employment. I have been over the past year been contemplating about this issue, and have serious intention in regard to the same. From nearly opening up a sheesha parlour in Scotland, to scrapping through plans of importing Guinness from Ireland to India, I've been giving it some thought. Also realised, that Maharashtrian people aren't enterprising to the extent Marwaris or Punjabi's are, more hard working no doubt

Da da daaaaa!

Have you ever thought about what scares you? Not the spooks scare, but the really scary scare, the type which makes you rethink what you are doing in life, make changes to offset the fear. Off late, I have got a few of those scary thoughts, which have made me change a few things, re-examine a few aspects of my life and re-arrange a few loose ends here and there. The first shocker came not long ago in the form of a health concern. It completely blew me catching me off guard. Its funny how all your worries and stress vanish away when the health of a person is in context. The nearest thought in the mind screams, dictating that you just stay alive, the rest we'll take care of! By god's grace and everyone's good wishes, we're back to fit and fighting stance this moment, aware of the fact that if this issue was hidden for a while, could have been drastic! The second incident which sparked me off is that of my future. I cannot get myself to explain in words what I am feeling,

Still not global enough!

Through some mathematical calculations I have developed through a degree in engineering(uh-hmm), the amount of time I've spent in my 25 years so far is as: 24%-Nagpur 32%-Delhi 20%-Colombo 12%-Mumbai 12%-Glasgow I still don't consider myself a Delhi-ite, displaying most opposite characteristics, although statistics dictate otherwise! Lets see if we can skew the percentage a bit in the next 10 years! Please oblige!

Renaissance and Resolution!

2012! A new year, a new start! Dear Blog of mine, a resolution has been made for thee.. Lets see how true I hold to the promise made to you on the eve of the new year. A dismal show of just two posts last year, lets see if we can produce some award winning scripts this year to compensate! The best people! Be safe!
